JGSPBCI CEMETERY PROJECT

The JewishGen Online Worldwide Burial Registry (JOWBR)

Our Cemetery Project is well underway. We have completed the inventory of seven cemeteries in the Palm Beach County area.

The following cemeteries have been recorded and sent to JOWBR:

  • Boca Raton (City) Cemetery
  • Boynton Memorial Park
  • Hillcrest Memorial Park
  • Lake Worth Memory Gardens (Garden of David, Gan Shalom)
  • National VA Cemetery in Lake Worth
  • Palm Beach Memorial Park (Beth Olam, Garden of Abraham, Mausoleum)
  • Royal Palm Memorial Gardens
  • Woodlawn Cemetery

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED to continue JGSPBCI's work of recording Palm Beach County Cemeteries for JOWBR. We especially need recorders and digital photographers as we now use digital photos for documentation. If you own a digital camera and wish to volunteer please contact Cindy Potter Taylor at president@jgspalmbeachcounty.org.

Because of privacy concerns, some cemetery management is hesitant to give us permission to copy headstones. If you have connections with a funeral home, or are active in your synagogue, it would be very helpful if you could obtain names of cemeteries in Palm Beach County. We want to be certain we don't leave any place out.

The JewishGen Online Worldwide Burial Registry (JOWBR) is a database of names and other identifying information from cemeteries and burial records worldwide, from the earliest records to the present. JOWBR can be viewed at www.jewishgen.org/databases/cemetery.

All of the information we gather for this project, one cemetery at a time, is submitted to JOWBR through JewishGen; it is only recently that Palm Beach County Cemeteries have been included.
