Back to the Past: How to Begin Your Journey into Genealogical Research

Speaker:
Mona Morris

Beginners Workshops

JGSPBCI will conduct special two hour Beginners Workshops for members. The workshops will be held prior to the regular monthly meetings (9:45-11:45), on January 10th and March 14th, and limited to 15 pre-registered participants. In an intimate classroom setting, using powerpoint slides, Phyllis Kramer will cover: Organizing Your Information, Genealogy Charts, Researching Census, Vital Records and Passenger Manifests. The presentation will last about two hours and students will be given every opportunity to ask questions during the workshop and afterward. Our goal is to deliver individual attention and followup to each student through consultations and the JGSPBCI mentoring program at the library.

Requirements: Students must be relative new to genealogy and comfortable downloading files from the computer. To register for the Workshop, contact Joel at sisitsky@jgspalmbeachcounty.org to get the application and pay the $25 fee.

Practicing Safe Computing

Hal Bookbinder, from the Jewish Genealogical Society of the Conejo Valley and Ventura County (California), has written a series of short articles on "Practicing Safe Computing." The seventeen articles published to date have now been consolidated into a single PDF document with an internal index to quickly locate each article. Many genealogists may be interested in this topic; the document is accessible here.
